This qualification develops practical teaching skills and, through the units, prepares teachers to work in a wide range of contexts. To be awarded the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, a total of 36 credits must be achieved.
Entry requirements
– There is a practical requirement for a minimum of 30 hours of teaching practice.
– You need to be working with individuals 14+ years
Other requirements for the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training are for all trainee teachers completing the Level 4 qualification to have or work towards a minimum of level 2 in numeracy, literacy and ICT. Level 2 is equivalent to GCSE A-C grade. It is not essential to complete the numeracy, literacy and ICT qualifications before starting the CET course.
The units are a mixture of mandatory units and optional units. The CET qualification needs to reach a particular credit value with one at level 3 and the rest at level 4. We have worked out the best units with the required credit value to support any teaching role.

This is a flexible distance learning course that can be completed at a time to suit you. On enrolment, you are allocated a personal tutor who will be your support for the duration of the course.
The duration of the course is different for different people but takes an average of three to six months. We work around you and your current commitments.
Your units are completed through workbooks which are sent to you, document evidence and observations of your teaching practice.
